How to get rid of your clothesFirst, commit a few hours to cleaning out your closet and sorting
through your clothes. Think of it as bringing necessary order to your living space and morning routine -- it'll actually
make getting up and out much more enjoyable. The next step is simple and undebatable: Anything you own that you do not wear,
never loved wearing or experience an ounce of regret when looking at must be eliminated from your wardrobe post-haste. It's
like keeping around pictures of an ex-girlfriend while looking for a new one: futile (and just a little pathetic).
If you're having difficulty deciding what to keep and what to ditch, here are a few more practical suggestions to make
it easier:
1 - If you haven’t worn it in one year, toss it; 2 - Categorize
your wardrobe into three piles: yesterday, today and tomorrow. Toss whatever is in the yesterday pile. Chances are you wavered
a bit on No. 2 and still have a big pile of "maybes," and haven't yet come to terms with what you're going
to do with it. Well, these garments have one last chance and then they're gone.
Take stock of your clothes
There's actually one step before throwing down the gauntlet of your old clothes. Pants that are a bit too wide
in the leg? Suits that fit a touch looser than you prefer? In many cases, a good tailor can rebuild the garments for a lot
less than the cost of new ones. Twenty dollars to rework a pair of slacks beats buying new ones; plus, you'll develop
a relationship with a tailor, the best of whom pride themselves on making you look your best.
Giveaway your
clothes
Even the best tailor can't fix something you're bored with, so, after you've taken stock,
whatever remains must go.
Fortunately, we take clothes, shoes, and ties that are in good condition (not stained
or torn) to help those who are in need, looking for a job, homeless, etc. We especially need unneeded bookbags, luggage, coats,
belts, etc.
We take them to our church to help in missions and local needs
in our community. Call us today to pick it up. 469-449-4420

Books, Movies, CDs, Audiobooks, Collectibles
Please ensure all items are in excellent, almost AS NEW condition. During a home pick-up, we will
take a quick survey of the books. We can only accept items we know we can use - we will not take books that are in poor condition
or out-of-date. It costs us a lot of time and money to dispose of unusable books, so please understand that we cannot
accept these.
We need: --Children's books - both hardcover and softcover
--Hardcover and softcover
books of all types, except we are very picky about
ADULT HARDCOVER FICTION (it is difficult to donate hardcover fiction novels to shelters, prisons, etc.). Please give
us a call if you have questions about your hardbacks
--Softcover fiction, art, cookbooks, history, foreign
language, psychology, sports, coffee-table books, music, etc.
--Encyclopedia
Britannica sets from the year 2000 to the present
--Movies - DVD and classic VHS (e.g. we generally cannot
use 1990s blockbusters on VHS)
--CDs - music, instructional, videogames, etc.
--Audiobooks on CD or
cassette
--Collectible items such as antique or autographed books, vintage magazines, comic books, memorabilia,
figurines, jewelry, watches, etc. are very useful - we will auction them and use the proceeds to fund our programs.

We do not need... --Hardcover fiction without a dust jacket, hardcover fiction with a torn dust jacket
--Textbooks
published before 2008. This includes high school and collegiate textbooks
--Travel guides published
before 2007
--Romance novels in paper or hardback
--Ex-library books
--Book Sale "Leftovers"
--Yellowed or damaged books. Please
also keep an eye out for cracked spines, loose pages, and "foxing," which looks like little yellow or brown spots
across the top edge of the book's pages. Also, books that have been stored for a long time in a basement or attic could
possibly have book mold across the top edges of the book's pages. Again, just something to be aware of
--Magazines
--Outdated books
- including business/management/real estate books published before 2005; politics or current events
published before 2007; any edition of "What Color Is Your Parachute" besides the 2010 edition;
think-tank/policy speciality books unless from 2010; items that look dated or just plain old (unless antique)
--Lastly, please be aware that we may not be able to use books that inlcude large amounts of highlighting or underlining
These materials help us with stopping illiteracy
and encourages reading so that we can have a better tomorrow. Helps fund community programs. Thank you for your
